Yoga is a spiritual path to enlighetnment. But what is enligntenment? It is seeing that you are you and not you at the same time. Seeing that you are not other people, but yet you are other people. You are everything equally and also nothing at the same time. You are disidentified.
Spirituality has become kind of popish. Which is good I think, but if you only scratch the surface of it, you miss out on what it really is about. And some things can be detrimental if you use them incorrectly so to speak. Many spiritual teachings that are ment to help people in certain situations are misinterpreted as objective truths that can be applied to any situation. There is no truth that can be applied to any situation. Acceptance is one of these. And is important in situations that you can’t change. However, in situations that you can in fact change, acceptance is not your truth to live by. Some situations are dangerous and you should absolutly not accept them. This is just an example, but really you should always listen to your inner truth, because that should tell you what you really should do.
Many spiritual people are all about awakening the mind, developing their intuition and knowing more and more about how the universe works. They learn that there are other ways of perciveing life. They understand that they can create their reality and why their thoughts matter.
Yoga is a really good spiritual path I think. You are not just meditating and awakening your mind. You are also awakening your body. Your mind and body is so closely linked together. Practicing yoga makes your body more relaxed AND your mind more calm and clear. It keeps you steady in the physical while you can open up to the truths of the universe. Which is important. People who awaken very fast has lot of negative side effects. They have trouble relating to other poeple, can feel distant from their bodies, and feel like they’re in a bouble distant from others. On the extreme they can seem completly out there and have trouble landing so to speak back on earth and not being able to function. This is what happens if you have very fast awakenings and you are not able to integrate what you learn and don’t know how to get grounded again.

In certain spiritual communities, physical things get judged as not spiritual. Like there is an oposition between physical and spiritual. Actually everything is made of the same stuff. There is nothing that is not spiritual. I love the quote «you are not only a physical being waking up to your spirituality, but also a spiritual being waking up to your physicality». Understanding the things around you, working on your relationships, learning to communitcate, work on your business, decorate your home, learn to live life fully, that is just as valuable, if not even more valuable, than realizing the role of your thoughts and learning how to use your intuition. Both things are important. Awaken your mind AND awaken your body.
Your body holds so much wisdom. To be fully integrated you have to be one with it. You can’t separate your mind from your body. You will learn so much about yourself if you start to listen to your body.
I have a fun fact for you.. Kaya in sanskrit translates to body. That is why I spell the name of my firm with a Y and use that in work related settings. But in fact my name spells with a J. So sometimes you will see me spell my name like Kaja and other times Kaya…
I work with the body. The body is what grounds us on earth. You are not ment to transend your body. You will do that naturally when you die. You are here to be in your body and live your life fully, as well as benefit from the spiritual practices of meditation and yoga.
