Hello new and old readers! I am happy to write to you again. As you might know, my blogging is a bit on and off, I used to blog every month and now it is more sporadically, but non the less, I wanted to share my thoughts today. Sometimes I get this urge to produce something, it can be a painting, a song or a text, a yoga workshop, I just need to do something creative. It feels like something is inside me and wants to come out. I’ve had this since I was young, I used to paint a lot. It was a need for me to do it regularly. It is important to express yourself, and to share. I believe everyone has their uniq form. Me, I have many, I am more of a generalist. Recently I had the thrill of inheriting my Grandmothers old piano. It has actually belonged to my Great Grandmother. I am so happy that we get to keep this valuable instrument in our family. I have the pleasure now of picking up where I left (I haven’t played in years), and discovering that once I place my hands in the right position, they remember most of what I used to play. My mind takes a little longer to understand what is going on. It is a big difference between the memory in my hands versus the memory in my mind. Such a weird experience. I left all the trust to my hands, and it is coming back to me more and more.
Other than that, there is a lot going on as usual. I always look for more ways to express my self in my work. I’m being drawn more and more to the other limbs of Ashtanga Yoga. Other than asana, pranayama and meditation which can be tough in class. I’m being drawn to share more about the lifestyle, which is important to me, and also highly relevant in our society today. If everyone lived according to ahimsa for example, how incredeably beneficial that would be for our planet. Ahimsa means non-violence, non-harming or kindness. It teaches you to take responsibility for your actions, your words and the footprints you leave. It is important to reflect on this as to live with integrity. That you understand what huge impact you have and that you do what you can so that your actions reflect your values. That your outside behavior reflects your inside. This way, you are living more authenticly, more truthfully, Satya. It really comes back to expression, but more on a habitual and relational level.
Aparigraha is another term I like. It means non-atatchment or generosity. It means that you only hold on to the things that have value for you, but let go of things you don’t really want or need. That you can easily give away if there is something that would do more benefit in someone else’s hands. It is a beautiful philosophy, reflected in all flea markets, swap events and secondhand stores. It is reflected in circular economy which I hope will be more and more incorporated in the business world. It allows us all to live more sustainable. It is also reflected in my life, that I got to inherit something beautiful that I highly value.
I wish you all a wonderful International Womens day! I hope to blog more frequently. We’ll see. Thanks for reading.
